Located in the central part of Palm Beach, the city of Greenacres was founded in 1926 by Lawrence C Swain and incorporated the same year. At that time the city chose a slogan, "a good place to live". In 1926 and in 1928 the city was devastated by two hurricanes which virtually destroyed the city.
